Smyrna First UMC is a church rich in interesting history.  In 1838, the first families gathered together in Smyrna area homes to worship.  In 1911, the first brick church was erected.  Growing from such humble beginnings, Smyrna First UMC has become a vibrant place of worship and fellowship.  
Smyrna First is one of the largest churches in the Smyrna area.  Over 800+ people worship on Sunday with many being active in Sunday Schools , choirs , and mission and outreach programs.  We are a vibrant church with active ministries for children, families, youth and adults.

A Few Facts:

• We have 16 Adult Sunday School Classes, with several additional classes that meet throughout the week.
• There are 15 Children's Sunday School classes including nursery! (There are 18 ways to worship with music --including several choirs (10 for adults and 8 for children and youth), two handbell choirs and an orchestra
• Our Seniors are active with special programs throughout the week including Wednesdays at Smyrna, United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men.
• We have Ongoing Programs for Children and Youth such as Children's Church , Youth ROC, Inside Out (for Students/Youth) and more.
• There are special events throughout the year for children, older kids and families.. such as Vacation Bible School, Hands on Christmas, Easter Egg Hunt, Fall Festival and Summer Camps.
• We offer several Bible Studies and Classes during the week at different times of the day.  These can be long-term or short-term studies focusing on a specific Biblical concept or book of the Bible.  Most classes require you to purchase a book and do outside reading and study to prepare for each week.
• We also have a number of LIFE Groups which offer a place to connect with and build relationships with other like-minded individual who enjoy participating in similar activities or interests.

New To Smyrna First UMC?   Exploring Smyrna First is the first step for newcomers  who have come to Smyrna First UMC.  During this program you will have an opportunity to interact with Senior Pastor Stuart Greene, Associate Pastor Barbara Hatchell and meet other key staff members.  You will learn about the mission and vision of Smyrna First UMC, meet other newcomers, and have a chance to ask questions about the church. Attendees of Exploring First are not required to join Smyrna First UMC, however this class is the first step in  the membership process for those who wish to become a part of the Smyrna First UMC family.

When is Exploring Smyrna First Held?
Exploring Smyrna First is offered almost every month of the year  
 on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 - 3:00.    
 All Exploring classes are held in the Church Conference Room.
