Children's Ministries are a very vital part of the ministries of the First United Methodist Church of Smyrna. We offer a variety of activities for the children throughout the year as well as weekly offerings. Our goal is to bring Jesus Christ into the lives of the children by teaching the Word of God, providing activities that allow the children to experience love and acceptance as a child of God, providing a welcoming environment to our community, and providing a safe and loving environment for all those who participate in our programs. It is our hope and dream that every child will experience God in such a real way that we will help pack their spiritual suitcase for the journey of their lives! Smyrna First United Methodist Church is a church for ALL God's Children--won't you come and join us?!

Children's Church
Children’s Church is offered for Pre-1st through 4th graders every week except the first Sunday of the month. At the 8:45 and 11AM Worship Services, the children are dismissed to the Children’s Church Room (Room 209, upstairs back Education Building). Parents are asked to take their children directly to Children’s Church PRIOR to the beginning of the 9AM Worship Service. Children’s Church is led by dedicated volunteers. KidMo is the primary curriculum used in Children’s Church.
Children’s Worship bulletins (in two age categories) are available in the Narthex and at the 9 am Service for children while they are participating in all services.
Children are with their families to enjoy the opening of the 8:45 and 11:00 worship services, then are dismissed with volunteers following the Children's Moments. The 9 AM worshipping families are asked to take their children to Children’s Church directly BEFORE the service. This is so we will have the entire time to do our “Kidmo” curriculum and time for relationship building at the end of our time together in small groups.
On the first Sunday of each month, children remain with their families throughout worship to learn more about the details of the worship service.
Children's Moments
A special time for children to participate by coming up to the front of the sanctuary at both the 8:45 AM and 11:00 AM worship services. After this time, children ages 4 thru 2nd grade are dismissed with volunteers to Extended Session or Children's Church.

(5th & 6th Grade) During the school year, this group meets in the Fellowship Hall from 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm for a time of fun, fellowship, devotion and snack. Parents sign up to bring 30 individually wrapped snacks and drinks each week. We have very dedicated volunteers who sponsor this great group! This group has lock-ins and often has 1-3 weekend retreats during the year. Advertisements and event dates may be found in First News or notes home to participants. Recruitment for the next year takes place in Sunday School at the end of the school year. All are welcome--the only requirement is that each participant have a current Medical Consent form on file.
Current 4th graders are invited to join this fun group at the end of January as our 6th graders begin the Confirmation process. Again, the only requirement to participate is to have a completed Medical Consent Form on file.
