College and Young Adults – 18 to 24+
Ministry to College Age and Young Adults are a vital part of our congregation. We place particular emphasis on our out of town college students, by our Secret Saints program. This program has a large group of volunteers who “secretly” keep in touch with our college students by sending cards, letters, care packages and encouragement and prayers. Then once a year we host a breakfast for all of the Secret Saints and the Students to finally meet each other and share their experiences. If you would like to volunteer to be a Secret Saint, please contact Kim Duggins at kduggins@smyrnafumc.org.

During college breaks, “Conversations”, a college and young adult Sunday School class meets Sundays at 10a for food, fellowship and Bible study. Led by lay facilitators, this class is meant to encourage and help our college students refresh and relax and spend time with their church family.

During the longer breaks (winter/summer), the church offers social gatherings, parties, bible studies and other activities for our student who are back home.

Women – United Methodist Women (UMW)
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Smyrna First has three UMW subgroups which meet once a month:
1. Mary Martha Subgroup meets September through June on the second Tuesday at 10:30 AM in Room 503
2. Willing Workers Subgroup meets September through June on the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM in Room 503
3. Shirley Stewart Subgroup meets year-round on the third Thursday at 7:30 PM in members’ homes

Six times each year at the UMW General Meetings, these three Subgroups come together to share events, activities and fellowship. They are also involved in events throughout the year for the Atlanta-Marietta District UMW and the North GA Conference UMW.

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)
We host a very active, wonderful group of Mothers of Preschoolers here at SFUMC. While this is a national organization, each group strives to make it their own. Bath Park is the leader of this wonderful group of Moms and can give you more information. This group is limited to a certain number of participants to provide quality childcare for the children, as well. Please contact the church office for information in how to contact the leader of this group.

The Vine
A Women’s Bible Study group which meets each Thursday in the Youth Building from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Child care is available by reservation to Tara Carr, Nursery Director, at tcarr@smyrnafumc.org

Men – United Methodist Men
Our church is blessed to have an active Men’s fellowship whose focus is to build each other up spiritually as we seek to be in mission to the local and worldwide community. To accomplish this objective we have Bible study groups and a monthly fellowship group as well as ongoing projects that serve to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those outside the church. For questions or to get involved in our men’s group, please contact Steve Lyle at slyle@smyrnafumc.org or by calling the church offices.

55+
PrimeTimers is a fellowship opportunity for all adults age 55 and over. Our PrimeTimers group meets the second Wednesday of each month at 10:00 AM in Room 503 for a program, refreshments, and fellowship; and they also travel monthly to various destinations within the North Georgia area.
Current PrimeTimers Opportunities:
Wed., Feb. 29 – Lunch and Red Letter Jesus by Brad Sherrill at the Square Alley Stage in the Theater on the Square in Marietta

Wednesday Night LIVE!
While not just for adults, our Wednesday Night LIVE! Fellowship Dinners offer a great opportunity to meet new people, enjoy a catered meal and fellowship with your church family. The menus are posted each week on the website and the cost is $6 Adults, $5 for 55+ and Children. Several times during the year we will offer short-term bible studies and activities for the whole family. This is a great way to get involved in the life of the church and make new friends!

Every day they continued to
meet together in the temple courts.
They broke bread in their
homes and ate together with
glad and sincere hearts,
