Smyrna M.U.S.T. Urgently Needs Our Help!

mustThe MUST Ministries Smyrna location offers Food, Clothing and Employment Services to those in need throughout our community. Clients receive food and clothing assistance, referral assistance and Employment assistance. Clients participate in a variety of classes in the classroom and the computer
lab, both staffed by volunteers.

Currently, the food shelves at Smyrna MUST are bare. And the warehouse is almost empty. Let’s help support this ministry by providing the following items (Don’t forget to look for the BOGO specials.).

  • Oatmeal
  • Jelly
  • Pork & Beans
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned fruit
  • Boxed Potatoes

Items may be brought to the Welcome Center and placed in the MUST box beside the elevator. Or, you may deliver them directly to Smyrna MUST at 460 Pat Mell Road, Smyrna30080. Music Ministry Notes

Chamber Choir – Rehearsals resume on Sunday, Sept. 28, 4:30-5:45 PM, in the Chapel (Rm. B110). Christmas Choir – Everyone is welcome to come sing and celebrate through song the birth of our Risen Savior. Christmas Choir rehearsals are each Wednesday evening, 7:30-8:15 PM, in the Choir Room (Rm. A202). Chancel Choir then works on regular weekly anthems from 8:15-9:00 PM. The Christmas Cantata – which will include the handbell choir, all adult ensembles, and the Christmas Choir –
will be held on Sat., Dec. 13 and Sun., Dec. 14, at 5 PM. (Please note that this is an hour earlier than prior years.)

Inquirer’s Class for Newcomers

The Inquirer’s Class is for newcomers visiting Smyrna First UMC, preparing them to make an informed decision regarding membership at Smyrna First. The next class begins Sun., Oct. 5, at 10:00 AM in Room A105 and continues through Sun., Nov. 9. Throughout the class, we will:

  • Engage in dialogue about Christian faith and become better acquainted with each other, the pas-tors, and the church staff.
  • Explore United Methodist beliefs and Traditions.
  • Explore the nature of the church and its mission in the world, specifically the vision and mission of Smyrna First UMC.
  • Explore the opportunities for spiritual growth and development and discover where you can best serve.
  • Learn where people and places are located in the church and how to get around the building.

Feast – Food, Fellowship and Feasting on the Word
