Smyrna First United Methodist Preschool/Kindergarten is a non-profit weekday school for children 2 years to 5 years old of any race, color, national, religious, or ethnic origin. The program, begun in 1969, is a ministry of Smyrna First United Methodist Church and is operated as part of the Church’s educational program. A Governing Board administers the school.
We believe that each child is a child of God and has a right to develop to his/her fullest potential. Our responsibility as a church-sponsored school is to provide a program that will foster development of the whole child: emotionally, intellectually, socially, physically, and spiritually.
The staff is composed of qualified and experienced early childhood educators. All of the staff members have a current background check and are trained in the Safe Sanctuary policy of the Church. All maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid procedures. Staff members also participate in a continuous program of inservice education in order to further their knowledge and to remain cognizant of the needs of our children. Our school is recognized as a School of Excellence by the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church.
