UMWlogoThe organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Smyrna First has three UMW subgroups which meet once a month:

  • Mary Martha Circle meets September through June on the 2nd Tuesday at 10:30 AM in Room A107. For more information, contact Evelynn Herring at 770-435-3048.
  • New Beginnings Circle meets year-round on the 3rd Thursday at 10:00 AM in member’s homes. For more information, contact Connie Beasley at 770-432-8180.
  • Shirley Stewart Circle meets year-round on the 3rd Thursday at 7:30 PM in members’ homes. For more information, Nancy Sparks at 678-860-9893 or Karen Harvil at 770-319-5792.
  • Willing Workers Circle meets September through June on the 2nd Tuesday at 7:00 PM in Room A107. For more information, contact Tina Davis at 770-438-8456.
  • Faithfilled Circle meets September through June on the 1st Thursday at 9:00 AM in Room C211. Childcare provided for children ages 2-6 by reservation. For more information, email Christen Vickery at faithfilledumw@gmail.com.

Six times each year at the UMW General Meetings, these three Subgroups come together to share events, activities and fellowship. They are also involved in events throughout the year for the Atlanta-Marietta District UMW and the North GA Conference UMW.
