The Chancel Choir (Men and women) is the largest of our musical groups and delights in using all genres of music from classical to contemporary , gospel to jazz and blues. We average 45-50 singers on Sunday’s, (75 on roll), and invite others to join us for our Christmas, Easter, and other music specials. There are no musical requirements/auditions to sing in the choir, but more importantly a heart and spirit wishing to sing to God. In a perfect world, every singer would be at every practice and each Sunday worship service, but that world does not exist. Instead we trust that God will take our efforts and bless our song with those that are there on any given Sunday (we have a sign-out sheet).Consider this your invitation to give Chancel Choir a try! Rehearsal: Wednesday’s, 7:30 Serves: Sunday’s, 11:00am
The Gospel Choir (Men and Women) consists of our faithful , early to rise song-birds! The group focuses on the gospel songs of the early church and sings for the early service once or twice a month. This is a no-pressure, give it a try, get your feet wet kind of group. Coffee, orange juice, whatever gets you going is okay with us! Rehearsal: Sunday’s, 8:05 am Serves: Sunday’s, 8:45 service
Jonquil City Boys
The “JCB’s” men’s group loves to sing Southern Gospel style. In addition to singing at services on a monthly basis, they also sing at patriotic events, campmeeting services, and occasional guest appearances. Rehearsal: Wednesday’s, 6:30pm
This all ladies group meet on Monday mornings beginning in the fall for 6-8 weeks to learn a “set” of music, and then we take the show on the road! Every Monday, we visit a different senior center, retirement village, Alzheimer’s unit, etc. and present a fun program of non-religious songs. The blessing is that these ladies come from multiple churches in the area, so we are a true sisterhood. Childcare is available, so if you’re looking for a chance to serve ,and yet have some fellowship at the same time, this is for you. Rehearsal: Monday’s, 10:30 am
Sounding Joy Handbells
This adult group of intermediate-advanced handbell ringers rejoices in continuing to become better musicians thru the distinctive style of handbell ringing. Musical knowledge and handbell experience is extremely helpful, but we’ve been known to “train on the job.” Rehearsals: Wed., 6:30pm
Smyrna Village Players
The Smyrna Village Players is a chartered ministry of the church that reaches out into the community to involve others in a large summer show, as well as smaller efforts during the remainder of the year. Our mission is to provide wholesome family entertainment that has a message of hope and redemption at its heart. This summer’s production, Cinderella Enchanted, saw our largest crowds, a huge amount of support from the community, and a wonderful show that was enjoyed by all.
This adult ensemble sings contemporary praise music. For more information contact Kim Duggins, director at firstname.lastname@example.org. All are welcome.
